Beginning in 2019, in response to the growing crisis of mass migrant detention and the serious lack of services for LGBTQ+ migrants, REDCLT began a collaboration with Friends of Miami Dade Detainees, the LGBTQ Freedom Fund, and other organizations to help advocate for and secure release of LGBTQ+ migrants from south Florida detention facilities. Led by transgender people of color, both migrants and citizens, the Passionvine's Sanctuary Project offers free housing along with material support and advocacy for some of the most vulnerable survivors of our nation's broken immigration and criminal justice systems.

Social Justice Infrastructure
As rents rise, many south Florida social justice projects report difficulties securing space to use for their activities. The Passionvine has hosted dozens of meetings, workshops, and work days to support community organizing in the region, collaborating with groups including Food Not Bombs, Black and Pink, the South Florida COVID-19 Hotline for Incarcerated People, Fight Toxic Prisons, Friends of Miami-Dade Detainees, Florida Immigrant Coalition, Chainless Change, The Lake Worth Guatemalan-Maya Center, Circle of Protection, and The New Florida Majority. The house has hosted preparing banners and art materials for demonstrations, cooking for anti-poverty initiatives, direct action trainings, gardening days, and much more.

The Urban FarmREDCLT’s sustainable agriculture initiative supports food security and builds towards community autonomy and ecological sustainability through the Passionvine’s small urban farm. The land hosts over an acre of edible and medicinal native plant species, tended by volunteers, providing nutritional support to dozens of residents and local community members while preserving local species and traditional knowledges. Current plants include jackfruit, moringa, basil, passionflower, starfruit, wild oregano, carrots, spinach, pomegranate, banana, aloe, mint, thyme, chili peppers, sugar apples, papaya, mango, and more! |
Bambooty is a historic queer collective in Lake Worth, FL. We are one of South Florida’s oldest land trust houses. We have housed fifty residents over a twelve year period. Our space focuses on housing for low-income, LGBTQ folks and community organizers. It has been an oasis of workshops, direct action skills training, food kitchen for community distribution, special events, plays, game nights, letter writing groups for prisoners, and of course - house parties! We have hosted TWAC (Transgender and Women’s Action Camp Training), Black and Pink, Queer Movie Night, Lake Worth Food Not Bombs, herbal classes, Earth First! The Musical, Queer Book Club lead by Haus of Quota, and more. We are always open to local rad groups who want to use the space for community events. If interested, please email us directly.
